The Board would like to clarify some confusion about whether signs, including for sale/lease signs and political signs are allowed to be posted on homeowner property, in the common areas or in right-of-way areas. The HOA Covenants that were established in 2001 are more restrictive than The Woodlands Township Standards and have expressly stated than "No advertising signs, including, but not limited to, any signs advertising a Residence for sale or lease, billboards..." are not allowed to be placed on lots. Any change in the Covenants would require 2/3rd's homeowner approval, notice to all lien holders plus some legal work to amend the covenants.
With respect to the HOA common areas, the Board has the right to establish rules relating to the use of HOA common areas including the posting of signage. The Board believes that our community is best served by not allowing For Sale/Lease or political signage in community areas.
Additionally, under The Woodlands Residential Development Standards, signs are specifically prohibited in street right-of-ways, cul-de-sacs and medians unless approved by The Township. Questions regarding Township rules should be directed to the Township at (281) 210-3800.
Respectfully,
The Pointe HOA Board
